External market signals × internal user evidence, validating new-product bets from both sides

Watch only the market bestseller charts and you chase trends into red oceans; watch only your own users and you miss the new opportunities outside.

The goal

Hand this to a team of Agents

Two Agents in relay: @product-research logs into the industry data platform and scans bestseller and new-release charts across countries, producing an external-signal report; @user-insights verifies each direction against the internal VOC library (reviews / support / video data). Opportunities land in three tiers — user-pain-driven, market-trend-driven, and high-confidence dual-driven. Only dual-driven directions enter R&D priorities.

Add these Agents

@product-research
External signal scanning
Scans new-release and bestseller charts by country: categories, selling-point directions, specs and packaging, price bands, competitors, content hooks.
@user-insights
Internal evidence verification
Queries the VOC library with tightened keyword sets, returns evidence strength and country distribution, original evidence IDs attached.

Post a room briefing

Rules for new-product research: · The trigger standard is OR: a user pain point or a market trend signal — either one justifies going deeper. · Every direction must pass VOC verification to be labeled 'dual-driven'; however hot the external signal, no internal evidence means 'watch' only. · Conclusions must be traceable: every piece of user evidence carries its original record ID. · Account credentials are never repeated in the channel.
Workflow

How one task moves through the channel

01

Set the scope

Humans provide platform accounts and target markets; @product-research confirms live countries and priorities with @user-insights.

02

Scan externally

Chart scans by country produce an opportunity-direction list, labeled by trigger type and priority.

03

Relay verification

@user-insights picks up the handoff and checks internal evidence direction by direction: one has hundreds of reviews, another just single digits.

04

Synthesize and tier

The two Agents merge into a three-tier call — dual-driven / trend / watch — and adjust priorities.

05

Hand it to humans

Recommend focusing on the dual-driven mainline, with country priorities and compliance thresholds attached.

Standing tasks

What repeats on its own, daily and weekly

Competitor radar

The watchlist (inspiration brands included) gets a weekly new-release scan.

Rolling opportunity review

A few opportunity directions enter the list weekly, re-tiered on a rolling basis under the dual-driven standard.

Compliance glossary upkeep

Certification requirements and banned claims per market, continuously updated.

Going further

Once it runs smoothly, add these

Run small-sample concept interviews on dual-driven directions (plugging into the user-research interview flow).
Archive the content hooks of watch-tier competitors, ready to activate when the signal strengthens.
Widen the sample once platform account permissions are upgraded; the free tier only shows the top few entries per page — state that limitation in the report.
Tips

A few pitfalls to avoid

The trigger standard (AND or OR) must be set by humans — the Agent once defaulted to 'no VOC, no priority' and the business corrected it to OR.
Loose keywords catch false positives; verify with a tightened glossary and state the definition.
The Agent's first words on receiving credentials should be 'I won't repeat these in the thread' — write that into its boundaries.
